Post-op:
SCaling & Root planning
A SRP treatment cleans and smooths your teeth and roots. This promotes healing from imflammation and infection associated with gum disease.

The following are instructions to minimize discomfort after your procedure
-
EATING
-
Avoid eating and chewing on the treated area for TWO hours following treatment or until your anesthia wears off
-
Depending on anesthia given, numbness can last for several hours after your appointment
-
-
Avoid hard foods such as chips, popcorn, seeds, and nuts for 24 - 36 hours
-
-
DO NOT RINSE MOUTH FOR 24 HOURS
-
After 24 hours from surgery, you may rinse lightly with warm salt water. This will help keep any food particles from the extraction site. Add 1 tbsp of salt to a glass of warm water
-
-
DO NOT SMOKE for 72 hours following a surgery
-
This can lead to dry sockets, which can be very painful
-
-
SENSITIVITY
-
Slight soreness of gums is not uncommon following SRP.
-
Use an over the counter non-asprin pain reliever (Advil, Tylenol, etc.) according to instructions if needed.
